Attn:  Everyone who missed joining us in Frankfurt for our Germany Tour #38

A big hello to our OIRF members, colleagues and friends . . .

Those of you who were unable to join us for this most recent tour program, really missed a good one! The size of the group was less than our anticipated 20 doctors, but it turned out to be just perfect. The countries represented by attendees were Canada, the United States and Egypt, most of them were “first-timers”. We were few enough that we could all get to know each other well and everyone had plenty of time for one-on-one interaction with our attending directors Dr. Karim Dhanani, Dr. Simon Yu and (of course, me) Carolyn Winsor-Sturm. Looking back at this trip now, you missed – in my humble opinion – one of the very best tour programs ever!

Here’s an overview of our busy schedule of activities, lectures and travels during the Institute’s 38th Biological Medicine Group Tour to Germany. This is based on the final letter that went out to all participants shortly before their departure for the tour. I’ve added a few comments based on the actual events that took place – almost perfectly within our planned schedule.

THURSDAY (October 27th):  Dr. Dhanani and I arrived back at our Frankfurt Airport hotel a little later in the afternoon (traffic jams while returning from the Med-Tronik Distributors Meeting in Friesenheim) than expected but were in Kelsterbach in time to meet everyone, say hello and send them off to bed after their travels.

FRIDAY (October 28th):  After a great breakfast in the hotel’s restaurant, our deluxe motor coach will take us southward by autobahn (freeway) to the Baden-Baden area, where we stay for four nights. There is lots of room for 10 of us in this big coach, so we should be able to have some good conversations (or naps) as we travel. In view of the additional lecture I’ll outline below, we will probably utilize this time for Dr. Dhanani and I to give you the orientation to the Congress Hall in Baden-Baden while we travel. Dr. Dhanani’s scheduled mini-lecture concerning integration of Biological Medicine into your practice as well as opportunities took place over several evenings. Upon arrival we checked into our rooms and had a set menu lunch.

During this bus ride I was able to hand out the Medicine Week program books – Dr. Dhanani and I gave a short orientation talk about the layout of the Congress Hall and some tips about the exhibit stands.

After lunch in the meeting room of our hotel will be our first private lecture. I added this lecture in when Mr. Peter Thurmann from Holistic Concepts (AMSAT) sent me some additional information on the SFA. In German that’s “Stimmfrequenzanalyse” which means Voice Frequency Analysis in English. Mr. Thurmann arranged for Dr. med. MSc Arno Josef Heinen to speak to the group for this very short time period, and the group was able to follow up at Med-Week with Mr. Thurmann to see a demonstration and get ordering information. Dr. Heinen is a specialist for Internal Medicine and natural healing methods. As well he specialized in stress research, system and evolutions theory as well as being an expert with SFA.

SFA was utilized extensively in Japan after the terrible earthquake and nuclear power plant incident. You can see some basic information in Volume 7, Issue #2, starting on Page 28. I am sorry that we have to sandwich this lecture in, but most of our schedule was already set when I learned we could hear a presentation from this distinguished practitioner. As well, I am adding some further information into this Issue of the newsletter. This was a fascinating introductory lecture, and we hope to spend more time with Dr. Heinen on future programs.

Immediately after the lecture our motor coach will leave the hotel for the Baden-Baden Congress House. This afternoon is scheduled as your first “attack” on the exhibits at the Medicine Week.

I also recently learned of an excellent English language program on complementary cancer therapy that is being sponsored this afternoon. Here is all the information I have at this time. This is not a scheduled event for our tour and you will probably have to purchase a day pass to attend these lectures if you are interested (they may be free and I will try to check that out in advance?). I will for sure be attending (as probably will Dr. Dhanani). In recent years it just hasn’t worked into our schedules to get Dr. med. Friedrich Douwes to speak to our group and this is a great opportunity to hear him. Unfortunately, with the SFA presentation and transportation considerations, we won’t be able to participate in the whole program (but audio recordings are available).

Our bus will pick us up at the Congress Hall for return to our hotel. Our supper this evening will be right in the restaurant of our hotel. Thereafter, you have the rest of the evening free, since there are no organized events – but that offers yet another opportunity to have a few drinks in the pub, meet with the other tour participants, study, prep for Med-Week, etc. BUT, after supper you will all probably be tired – I know I will be. This has been a long and busy day and tomorrow will come only too quickly . . .

SATURDAY (October 29th):  The daily breakfast buffet is included in the tour price – have a good one. Today we will be spending the whole day at the Medicine Week Congress. This morning you have lots of time to wander the exhibits, talk to suppliers and other practitioners and then your lunch is on your own. This is the first of only two meals not included in the tour price and will allow you the freedom to grab a quick bite at the Congress Hall cafeteria or head into Baden-Baden where there are lots of nice restaurants within walking distance. This afternoon you are scheduled to attend an English language lecture that is an official part of Med-Week:

This is the program sponsored by Advanced Medical Systems on pulsed magnetic field therapy based on the work of Dr. rer. nat. Wolfgang Ludwig. This is part of your Tour Program and attendance is mandatory to receive your attendance certificate. Although Dr. Brian MacCoy was scheduled to speak during this program, Dr. Albrecht Heyer (another long time OIRF member and user of AMS technology) will present in his place. This program will also feature Prof. Prof. h.c (RO) Dr. med. dent. Werner Becker (wow! – all those initials mean that this gentleman is a university professor, and an honorary university professor and a dentist), along with Dr. rer. nat. Claude Bärtels. After the lectures end we can head over to our bus which will pick us up for return to the hotel and another great supper.

I know this makes for a late day and a very big rush. But – these are such exciting days at Med-Week and such a great opportunity for us to participate in these events. Tonight after supper, let’s give Dr. Dhanani a chance to talk to us for about an hour. This is your chance to talk to him (and to me) about what you’ve been seeing at Med-Week, what you are doing in your practice and then to hear our suggestions on how this technology and information can be used in your practice – right away when you get home. This lecture counts as your second private lecture on this tour program. Dr. Simon Yu also did a few workshops and demonstrations in the evenings!

Whew! Then nothing further is planned for this evening and by now you should be getting over your jetlag. See you in the bar for a good German beer and some conversation? Or, if it’s off to bed please remember the time change –set your alarm clocks back before bed tonight!

SUNDAY (October 30th):  Enjoy a good breakfast at the buffet and, then in the meeting room of our hotel a very special presentation sponsored by the SANUM-Kehlbeck company. I’m sure most of you are familiar with Sanum and are probably already using it in your practice. We have Mr. Terry Cotter [the president of BioMed International (Canada) and Terra Medica (USA)] with our group and he will be able to assist you with any necessary information for ordering these fantastic remedies (and of course the REBA that we will see tomorrow).

Unfortunately Mrs. Marion Lembke from the Sanum Company in Hoya, Germany who arranged this lecture for us was unable to attend due to illness. However during this important third private lecture for our Tour program we were honored to hear a lecture from the new head of their medical department, Dr. med. Gudrun Mekle. Dr. Mekle will talk to us about fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. This special program is one of the highlights of this Tour Program and of course attendance is mandatory to receive your certificate. Dr. Mekle was accompanied by Dr. med. vet. Anita Kracke. Unsure of her English, this doctor was reluctant to speak formally, but her insights and explanations when she got going were amazing.

After a quick lunch at our hotel, our motor coach leaves the hotel for the Congress Hall. Today, you have the entire afternoon at the “Medicine Week” to finalize your assault on the over 200 exhibit stands – get your arms and shoulders ready to carry bags of goodies and literature around – this is why you are bringing along an extra empty suitcase! To give you maximum flexibility for your own meetings with exhibitors and company representatives you are on your own for supper today (the second of the only two meals not covered in the tour). But please be sure to let Carolyn know if you will not be on one of the shuttle trips back to the hotel. Most of the group took a bit of an afternoon off and headed to the famous Baden-Baden baths.

And a surprise meeting in the Congress Hall – a chance to renew friendships with Dr. med. Hartwig Schuldt from Hamburg, Germany who accompanied the group on Tour #1 (October 1981)!

MONDAY (October 31st):  After breakfast our motor coach leaves the hotel to take us back into Baden-Baden to the Congress Hall where we participate in another English language lecture that is an official part of the Medicine Week program. This is also required attendance since it is a scheduled part of our tour program as well.

Diagnosis and Treatment of Emotional Conflicts (Psychosomatic Energetics)

I do not see it as competitive or contradictory to any of the instrumentation which we do recommend. From all reports this is a highly successful and effective therapy for those who wish to focus on emotional and psychological problems within their practice. We are fortunate to have Mr. Terry Cotter from BioMed with us to give you any ordering information that you need for this instrument or the SANUM remedies.

Right after this meeting ends we can meet our motor coach for return to our hotel and a quick lunch. Then back into our meeting room at this hotel for our fourth private session on this Tour program.

Dr. rer. nat. Frank Beck (that means a Doctor of Natural Science) from the Advanced Medical Systems (AMS) Company will give us an in depth presentation and demonstration of their magnetic field therapy devices. As with the majority of sessions and lectures I have arranged for this tour, this one is focused on the practical application of “diagnosis and therapy possibilities for the modern biological medicine practice with an emphasis on cancer”. Dr. Beck gave us a dynamite presentation last year and he is back at the request of some of our “many-timer” participants.

Here we will see the application of the lifelong research and passion of Dr. rer. nat. Wolfgang Ludwig. As the co-inventor of the long ago discontinued INDUMED unit made by Med-Tronik in the early 1980’s, Dr. Ludwig continued his research with magnetics up until the time of his death in 2004. The AMS Company has been continued by his wife with the able and expert assistance of Dr. Beck.

Dr. Beck was able to bring Prof. Prof. h.c (RO) Dr. med. dent. Werner Becker with him (although he did not lecture directly). He participated in the meeting with comments, answers to your questions and suggestions for the practical application of this fantastic method. Pictured to the left here.

Nothing further is planned for this evening, but you may want to get packed and ready for our departure from the hotel tomorrow morning.

Another note from Carolyn: This was Halloween! In Germany and many other areas this day is called the Hallowed Evening. Tomorrow is All Saints Day. Both of these religious celebrations are also holidays in Germany and many stores, banks and businesses will be closed (another reason I gave us our “free” night on Sunday evening). But, in many of the Catholic areas of Germany (like this area) these days are set aside to honor our ancestors and those who have gone on before us. During the days leading up to the 31^st, all the cemeteries are cleaned up and new flowers and arrangements are placed. Candles are placed on every grave and this evening are lit during the dusk hours. As different as this is from our customs (and definitely different from Asian customs) it is truly beautiful. On Nov. 1^st the family brings a cup of coffee or a beer or some wine and they all meet around and near the graves of their loved ones. They talk about the things that have happened over the past year and it is a time of remembrance and celebration. A unique and very moving experience.

TUESDAY (November 1st):  After breakfast today we check out of the hotel, and I ask you to make sure you are checked out long before departure time. Be sure to have your luggage packed, your Med-Week literature and goodies prepared for travel and have everything down to the entrance of the hotel for loading onto the bus. Your luggage will stay secure on the bus until this evening when we arrive at our next hotel.

This is going to be a fun and much more relaxing day than these past few jamb-packed days. I know it has been hectic but by taking advantage of the lecturers who are already at Med-Week for other programs we reduce our travel times and can take in many more events. So, today our bus will take us back into Baden-Baden to one of the beautiful Steigenberger hotels where we hear Dr. med. Georg Stommel and Prof. Dr. habil. Dr. med. Claus Muss, tell us about the application and utilization of Regeneresen.

Although this was originally planned as a private lecture at our hotel, they were determined to open this up for other participants at Med-Week. Thus they arranged a meeting room for us close to the Med-Week. This was an excellent opportunity to meet Mrs. Laura Emmerich who organized this lecture and arranged for Regeneresen sessions.

Now we must depart this meeting and leave Baden-Baden on our motor coach. We will head out onto the autobahn (that’s the no speed limit freeway system – yippee! – wait till we get passed by a Porsche or Ferrari) and head further south into the Black Forest to Friesenheim.

Again, what a treat! And this is truly another sightseeing destination on its own. This is MORA (and BE-T-A and MORA-Color and . . .). Unfortunately under the recent new manufacturers’ regulations, no full tour of their facility is possible. But you will see their own manufacturing plant (from the outside) and the beautiful classroom/teaching facility and so much more.

We will get a presentation from Mr. Andre Rasche (the developer of the new MORA NOVA) and Mr. Nuno Ruivo (co-developer of much of the software). This however is our own private introduction to the new MORA NOVA. We will get to actually play with some of the devices and hear about the capabilities of this exciting new technology. It has been in development for three years and will replace the now aging technology of the MORA-Super Plus. See separate information in this issue of the newsletter on the MORA NOVA.

We are scheduled to depart Med-Tronik later this afternoon for our supper meal at the hotel that will be home for this one night only. Our favorite hotel in this area is closed for a “rest day” and I opted to return to this hotel where we stayed last year. But listen up – you are being dumped into small town Germany. This is a very traditional hotel operated by the Strosack family which has an excellent restaurant – and limited English.

By now you should be able to handle the basics (like: “ein bier bitte”), I will be there to assist with any challenges and it is only for one night, so I am sure we will survive the adventure. But this is probably not the best location for your family or staff to try and reach you unless it is really important.

Enjoy your time here. This is a very picturesque village and everyone is friendly and helpful. I also opted to make this our “banquet” dinner for the close of the Tour. Tomorrow night we will be back in Frankfurt at our airport hotel. So we can enjoy the fantastic meal and the rest of the evening is free without any further scheduled activities. I expect several of the Med-Tronik ‘family’ will join us for supper and we should be able to relax and enjoy our second last evening together.

WEDNESDAY (November 2nd):  So, have good breakfasts and our motor coach will depart for the little town of Edenkoben. This will be about a two hour trip at bus speed limits to the city of Edenkoben situated along the German Wine Route. Here we will visit the world famous biological medicine clinic called
Villa Medica. [Let me digress briefly: In Germany the doctor has a “Practice” where he daily sees his patients. A “Clinic” on the other hand is usually what we would call a small – or large – hospital with inpatient care. The term “Hospital” is usually reserved for the large orthodox medicine hospitals similar to what we expect to see in North America. CLWS].

The Operations Manager, Mr. Alexander Gottwald arranged for us to have a full tour of their facility as well as a presentation about their therapies, a Q&A Session and lunch. We were privileged to receive a detailed information session with their Medical Director, Dr. med. Geoffrey Huertgen (above).

Note from Carolyn 30 Nov.: This is an amazing clinic originally established in the late 1800’s and was bought out by an Asian group about two years ago. Since we last visited this clinic they have undergone major renovations to update and upgrade the building and patient suites. However they remain the premier clinic for treatment with Original Fresh Live Cell Therapy (they even have their own flocks of biodynamically grown sheep – and a real shepherd!). Their patient list includes some pretty famous people, and I must admit treatments here are quite pricey. But their success rates are phenomenal. Almost all work being done today with Live Cell Therapy (although usually not with fresh live cells) is based on the research and experience of the doctors and researchers at this clinic. Here’s an idea of their therapies and a couple more pictures:

The bus will pick us up for our final ride back to Frankfurt (about 1½ hour trip).

Another note from Carolyn, 30 Nov.: But, we were in for an unscheduled surprise. With the expert organization of our driver Kurt and Mr. Gottwald we were able to visit a nearby touristy location. Within minutes of leaving the clinic behind, we were being carried up the side of a mountain on little cable lift chairs. At the top, a panorama view that was breathtaking! And, if we had time, there was even a little restaurant up there for hot chocolate, coffee, kuchen . . . And then back onto the bus.

We arrived back at our Frankfurt Airport Hotel without delay, where the hotel staff had set aside a special table for our group. Although we have had a lot of good German food during this week, I opted to stay in our hotel for this closing dinner for two reasons. First, the restaurant has a relatively good menu or buffet dinner available, and second so that we do not have any transportation deadlines. This way we can have a leisurely celebration taking pictures and talking and enjoying our last evening together – into the wee hours.

The tour officially ends after our certificate ceremonies, as does OIRF’s responsibility for you. Your hotel room for the night and breakfast tomorrow morning is included in the tour price.

THURSDAY (November 3rd):  Fly home from Frankfurt anytime today if you wish, and most North Americans even get home that same day due to gaining time zones. Breakfast this morning is included in the tour price, and the hotel’s free shuttle service will get you to

the airport. Have a safe and pleasant trip home!

Well, that was it. We missed having you join us for this tour program and we look forward to seeing you there next year. With very best wishes for a most pleasant flight and a safe journey, I remain your “illustrious” tour guide. . .
