Rhetoric, Politics, History and Points to Ponder
09 February 2022
These are interesting and maddening times, are they not? But times of change – those moments of Kairos – are certainly never easy to participate in. In recent weeks I’ve had several reminders of the past and of the history that have once again compelled me to put my fingers to the keyboard and “spit it out” as the old saying goes.
On the day I began writing, I was filled with optimism. In spite of the promise that I was going to leave all this political stuff alone, it seems events and “life” just conspire to keep me intrigued, frustrated and constantly amazed at how the media and the politicians can turn the meaning of the words and actions of good people to their own benefit and profit at our expense.
A Moment of Kairos, Part 1 USA
For me, for right now, one of the most important dates in this transitionary time was the bitterly cold day January 23, 2022 as Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. delivered one of the most powerful speeches I have ever had the privilege to hear. You can listen here and also read the transcript of his words: https://childrenshealthdefense.org/defender/rfk-jr-speech-defeat-the-mandates/?utm_source=salsa&eType=EmailBlastContent&eId=6cb7ce5b-b60e-4bd0-add3-b4426644bc26
As an historian and an attorney, Mr. Kennedy clearly and precisely outlined the history, detailed the information and the perspective necessary for us to bring this madness to a stop. It is obvious that this situation will not stop until we all collectively just say “NO!”. Delivered in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC to a crowd of at least 30,000 people, let us all pray that this will be a galvanizing moment for everyone. This is a must. Listen to, or read, this presentation.
Moments of Kairos, Part 2 Canada
Then, a few days later on a chilly day in our British Columbia capital city of Victoria, “The Honorable Brian A. Peckford, a former premier of the province of Newfoundland and the last living architect of the Canadian Charter [of Rights and Freedoms], gave a powerful and fact-laden speech last weekend in support of the Freedom Convoy protesters while detailing the egregious violations of the rights of citizens by government in the name of COVID-19.” From our Canadian viewpoint, here’s a link to see a summary of his remarks as well as a clip of his comments taken on someone’s cell phone: https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/last-living-author-of-canadian-rights-charter-endorses-freedom-convoy-trudeau-is-sowing-divisions/
Neither of these impassioned speeches made it into the mainstream media. I’m sure that everyone globally in the days unfolding since has heard about our brave and patriotic Truckers’ Freedom Convoy. Their one and only demand is the end of all COVID mandates and restrictions. Our Prime Minister Mr. Justin Trudeau has publicly painted all the truckers and any who support the “anti-mandate” protests as a “small fringe of anti-vaxers, racists, bigots, misogynists, anarchists” and a number of other vitriolic and inflammatory names, and then wonders “how can we tolerate such people?”. I wonder who really is sowing unrest and division in Canada? It seems to me that instead of hiding away in his ”retreat home” with the lame excuse that as a 50 year old triple-vaxed adult he contracted COVID from one of his kids (gee, how’s that vax working for you, Justin? – oops, sorry did I use my outside voice again?), he should have been arranging meetings and negotiations with the organizers of the convoy to try and settle or at the least acknowledge their rights and grievances – or barring that to at least get his minions to find some way to peacefully settle issues with the truckers. Although the protest which has spread across Canada remains amazingly peaceful in spite of the numbers involved, Ottawa police (along with RCMP and CSIS) have initiated a full scale “investigation” into every single trucker and his life, have created a “bylaw” which forbids anyone from providing basic supplies to the truckers (including food, water and fuel) and arresting them if caught doing so, threatened to confiscate their trucks while decertifying their licenses, and then while arresting unrelated trouble-makers delightedly linking them to the protest. Over this past weekend as I held my breath, heavily armed local, provincial and federal police dressed in full riot gear and backed by armored vehicles with heavy weaponry “peacefully” forced many of these protesters to abandon their blockades and protest sites.
If open dissent or policy disagreement is so problematic for a government that it initiates the use of heavily armed riot police, censorship, ridicule and defamation, and even threatens bankruptcy and destruction of their gainful employment, then that government is not democratically serving the people who elected them.
As I watch the medical aspects of the COVID situation deteriorate even further within the political chaos of my country, I was reminded of these words from Former President Ronald Reagan: “One of the traditional methods of imposing statism or socialism on a people has been by way of medicine. It’s very easy to disguise a medical program as a humanitarian project.”
Update 15 February 2022: Today Canada has changed forever. Our Prime Minister has invoked the Emergency [War] Measures Act in a bid to utilize forceful measures to bring the Freedom Convoy protests to a halt. In his attempt to stop the peaceful protests of thousands of loyal and patriotic citizens of Canada, this Act essentially declares martial law in Canada giving Mr. Trudeau and our government complete control:
- Gives Mr. Trudeau frighteningly dictatorial powers to crush terrorist or similar threats to the nation.
- Initially maintains the continuation and control over all COVID mandates and restrictions
- Canada’s federal police (RCMP) overnight have engaged in violent sabotage of heavy equipment on private property which they “suspected” would be used in a blockade
- A protégé of Klaus Schwabe of the WEF, Mr. Trudeau is expressing his support of the Great Rest scheme
- If deemed necessary, use of the military to bring about order and control
- Allows regulation and prohibition of public gatherings in specific locations
- Does not – at this time – suspend fundamental rights under our Charter of Rights and Freedoms [see comments above by Mr. Peckford]
- Allows power to “designate” towing companies as essential services and to compel them to remove big rigs and other vehicles from blockades
- Target financing for the convoy including seizing and freezing assets and funding from crowdfunding platforms and cryptocurrencies under Canadian anti-money laundering and terrorist financing laws – based on suspicion and without court order
- Immediate suspension of commercial trucking licenses and insurance for individuals and corporations supporting the truckers
- And so on.
For a situation that could have been totally avoided, or at least resolved with words and cooperation, I fear not only for the well being of the truckers and their families, but for all of Canada. False flag incidents about thefts of government weapons stashes and heavily armed protesters are already being circulated to further demonize the truckers. Our Prime Minister now has the power to “squash a freedom movement that is engaging in civil disobedience peacefully.” Will we see scenes here similar to 1989 in Tiananmen Square? Pray for us all.
AND back in the USA
Here’s the link to Department of Homeland Security with their latest bulletin: “Summary of Terrorism Threat to the U.S. Homeland” https://www.dhs.gov/ntas/advisory/national-terrorism-advisory-system-bulletin-february-07-2022 stating:
The United States remains in a heightened threat environment fueled by several factors, including an online environment filled with false or misleading narratives and conspiracy theories, and other forms of mis- dis- and mal-information (MDM) introduced and/or amplified by foreign and domestic threat actors. These threat actors seek to exacerbate societal friction to sow discord and undermine public trust in government institutions to encourage unrest, which could potentially inspire acts of violence.
And continuing on to state:
The primary terrorism-related threat to the United States continues to stem from lone offenders or small cells of individuals who are motivated by a range of foreign and/or domestic grievances often cultivated through the consumption of certain online content. The convergence of violent extremist ideologies, false or misleading narratives, and conspiracy theories have and will continue to contribute to a heightened threat of violence in the United States.
Key factors contributing to the current heightened threat environment include:
1. The proliferation of false or misleading narratives, which sow discord or undermine public trust in U.S. government institutions:
* For example, there is widespread online proliferation of false or misleading narratives regarding unsubstantiated widespread election fraud and COVID-19. Grievances associated with these themes inspired violent extremist attacks during 2021.
* Malign foreign powers have and continue to amplify these false or misleading narratives in efforts to damage the United States.
Above emphasis is mine (CLW). So, if I understand this, the DHS has just stated that:
COVID misinformation (by their definition of course) and
unsubstantiated claims of election fraud
EQUALS domestic terrorism.
I’m not really sure how, as a 75 year old “supposed to be retired” alternative medicine researcher and translator, I have achieved so many heinous labels from DHS and our Canadian Prime Minister. Oh well. Maybe it’s time for me to remove the “supposed to be” part of my job description.
A Moment to Ponder, Part 1
Interestingly in the midst of all this, the only Canadian Conservative (opposition) political party has ousted its leader Mr. Erin O’Toole and is searching to replace him. In his departure remarks he appealed to all political parties to work together to heal the division within Canada:
“Canada is in a dire moment of our history,” he said. “You need only take a walk down the street in front of Parliament to see how divided we are.
So my message to my party is the same I will give to the Prime Minister and Members of Parliament on all sides of the House of Commons ‘audi alteram partem – hear the other side’. Listen to all voices, not just the echoes from your own tribe. Realize that our country is divided and people are worried. Work together because how we as leaders act now will define the next generation.”
Perhaps it is time for all of us to step back, listen first, learn from our history, look to our democratic Constitutions, and then guide the health “authorities” rather than allowing them and their overlords (the pharmaceutical and tech industries) to make decisions for us.
A Moment in History to Ponder, Part 2
My final history lesson for this issue concerns a discussion I heard from a religious leader who had recently visited Kalaupapa. Kalaupapa is a small unincorporated community on the island of Molokaʻi, within Kalawao County in the U.S. state of Hawaii. It is one of the former “Leper Colonies” in USA territories. As he talked about the conditions and reasons for the colony, and how it had been so isolated and underfunded for so long, he also mentioned how our perceptions of Hansen’s Disease have changed in recent times.
His understanding, and lesson, from the discussion was that Hansen’s Disease is now considered a genetic disorder and can be treated. Medically speaking of course, Hansen’s Disease is a bacterial infection (initially respiratory) that can be quickly and successfully treated with antibiotics, especially if treated early (and with homeopathy?). The genetic aspect appears to come from the supposition that although the bacteria is contagious and can be spread as an infection, nearly 95% of people have a natural immunity to the disease.
But, if we think back to Biblical times, it was a much different picture. It is easy to find reports of lepers being isolated, forced to wear dark protective clothing, to always cover their heads and faces , and to always speak out the warning of “unclean” when walking outside their homes. Even to touch the robe of such a person was considered contagious and you would risk shunning and isolation. Nowadays with current understanding of disease transmission and treatment, such a response is unnecessary.
Somehow though this all sounds eerily familiar – even 2,000 years later. Then at least the healthy were not isolated, but if we should dare to change the word “unclean” to “un-vaccinated” then suddenly the analogy becomes quite uncomfortable. The current dictate from our health authorities is that they “are not about to stop the mandates because of pandemic fatigue, but rather will maintain them based on science and experience”. In spite of the fact there are literally dozens of effective treatments for COVID and most viruses, must we wait another 2,000 years to get rid of our vaccine passports and face masks?
And for this month:
- A Harvard Study: Countries with High Vaccination Rates Do Not Have Fewer Covid-19 Cases Read more here
- Side Effects of the Corona Vaccines, Practice Experience from Jens Wurster, MD Read more here[CLW note: Looking at some of the original documentation concerning development of vaccines for corona viruses like SARS, MERS and all the others, estimates were that it would take 10 to 12 years to develop an effective vaccine. Even though SARS appeared in 2002, there is still no vaccine developed, and it is interesting that Moderna has brought no other product to market except their COVID vaccine. It will take that same long 10-12 years to determine not only effectiveness, but also side effects. It appears that we are the experiment/study underway. I can understand Dr. Christiane Northrup’s comment, that nobody knows what the results and effects will be – pro- or anti-vax.]

With great hope that the cycle of transition and turmoil will bring a change toward unity and healing. Until next time . . .
