Announcements, Updates and Reminders August 2019

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

It’s finally done. The over four months of detailed bleary-eyed computer work has finally been completed, and I am pleased to announce that the digitalized third version of the OIRF Chinese Medical Classics is now available. I have come to truly appreciate all the dedicated work that went into the development of these course materials during the early 1980’s. Working as a team Dr. Michael Barnett, Dr. Michael Coburn† and myself (Carolyn) spent endless hours translating, proof reading, researching and cross referencing to multiple sources, manually typing (egads – with no spell checker or automatic formatting!) and then printing hundreds of copies (on our own “real” printing press) of the over 500 pages of these amazing ancient documents.

This is a Master’s level advanced acupuncture self-study program. If you have not already studied acupuncture, consider obtaining the self-study materials of the OIRF Modern & Traditional Acupuncture program as a place to start your studies and as invaluable reference materials. Then delve into the three ancient books, and the wisdom of the Emperor Huang Ti and his trusted advisor Chi Po for the energetic, conceptual and practical information that will allow you to become a highly effective and energetically based acupuncturist.

I am deeply indebted to both the Dr. Michael’s as well as our founder Dr. Walter Sturm† (who also spent countless hours with a Chinese to German dictionary translating sections from Chinese sources to quadruple check our French to English translations) for their foresight and their incredible contributions to the completion of this monumental project. This was literally the first time this information appeared in the English language!
