IMPORTANT NOTICE to former OICS students:

As most of you know, Occidental Institute first opened its doors in Weston, Ontario Canada on July 2, 1972. We began our journey to today’s non-profit research organization offering continuing education training to an international group of practitioners as a unique and groundbreaking “school” for traditional acupuncture. Through the years of struggle with the orthodox medical organizations the Institute underwent a series of changes in our business format as we maintained the confidentiality of our member and customer lists.

After a number of forced moves (including an eight year stint in the USA) the Institute came back into British Columbia Canada in the summer of 1984 when we attained our unique non-profit research status. However, to maintain that status we had to cease all functions as a “school” – in other words we could no longer issue certification or accreditation. All of those old “school” records have been carefully maintained throughout the intervening years. However, it is now nearly 30 years since we ceased being a school and it has been decided that all of those student and school records can now be securely destroyed.

We wish to inform any former students or graduates of Occidental Institute of Chinese Studies (Weston, Ontario and Montreal, Quebec, Canada) and the OICS Alumni Association (Miami, Florida and San Bruno, California USA), that all records pertaining to their studies in those organizations will be destroyed during the month of September 2013 and prior to October 1, 2013.

Any former OICS(AA) students/grads who wish to obtain transcripts of studies must contact us prior to August 31, 2013. Thank you for your understanding and for your cooperation.
