26 April 2011

Dear Members, Colleagues and Friends,

It is with the greatest sadness I must write and inform you that Dr. Brian MacCoy died peacefully in his sleep during the night of Saturday, April 16, 2011.

We send our sincere condolences to his wife Suzy and their two young daughters Elizabeth and Rebecca. This was so sudden and unexpected that many of us here are still coming to terms with this great loss.

Dr. MacCoy was a long time personal friend of Carolyn and the late Dr.
Walter Sturm, and has supported and worked with Occidental Institute for nearly thirty years. His professional CV is long and extensive, and is a tribute to his work in the field of Biological Medicine since he opened his first naturopathic practice in 1978.

As we continue the work of the Institute into the future Dr. MacCoy’s vast knowledge and experience along with his easy smile and gentle humor will be greatly missed. Discussions are underway with the Institute’s Directors and Advisors to appoint a new Medical Director.

As our many happy times together on Germany Tours, seminars and projects roll through our memories and the tears showing how much we miss him flow, I can only pray that “the big guy” is content and at peace.

Carolyn L. Winsor-Sturm
Managing Director
